My vote is cast. I reckon we should just go for it. If there is a problem with trolling then we will probably just have to can it but at least we will have tried.

I done voted already. Was just thinking this morning that I've had three days without a reportable incident.

Because CCE would only ever host a link out to the google form, you wouldn't need to register here to add data. I think if it was anything else you completely cut out casual cyclists filling in the form (maybe from a qr code on a lamppost? Who knows!)

So the form could be trolled. But I'd have thought they'd be much more likely to log in to CCE and post visible abuse. If they submit nonsense via the form it should be easy to spot and I'll just delete the row in the spreadsheet. The only way I wouldn't spot it is if it looked like a genuine incident, and then they're harming their own case. From some of the EEN comments I suspect they're more into visible ranting than subtle and slow data sabotage...

EEN mob create fake entries? On the Commend a Driver form or on the Bad Driving Form?

Good point tho - hadn't thought through to this possibility.

If hosted by CCE the EEN mob would need to register with this forum. Maybe they are already doing this? Maybe they are reading this now?

What happens when the form 'goes viral', and the EEN mob creates fake entries?

It reminds me of Raging Bike in many ways, whose presence on the web was something of an open secret.

For me the data generated would move us on a little from how we report our tales from the commute. Still a skewed sample but with more rigour. Balance of having good driver also helpful.

I guess anth/chdot may not have anticipated this direction when setting up the forum.

I believe we need to engagethe media and the wider population in Edinburgh. The data may help us to say - from a cycling commuting perspective this is what it is like cycling regularly in Edinburgh

I like the good driver one. Shorter form and more positive. Good work on both though.

(Will add a poll in a second - Edit: poll added, with spelling mistake. I'm not encouraging you to change you eating habits, honest)

Pulling this out of the first thread to enable me to add a poll and collect some of the opinions specifically about the google form approach

There are now two forms:
Report a Bad Driver (automatic graphical summary of incidents so far is here) and
Commend a Good Driver

Given that 'going live' with either of these will inevitably reflect a bit on the CCE community, think it's important to get a consensus view as to whether this would be a Good Thing.

Can I suggest we give it a week or so to gather responses, and then chdot, anth and others can make the final decision about whether and how to go about launching this? I'm a techy at heart, and rubbish at most challenges that I can't break down into a flow chart or numbers...

Long Live the CCE Tracker! / Down With this Unnecessary Faff!

Your call.
