I think if it was his idea he'd have made sure it happened. CEC scrapped it and only built the short (and short-lived) guided busway which 'conveniently' built bridges that the tram is planned to use. </p> <p>Not enough money to make bridges wide enough for a proper cycle route of course...</p> <p>Various bits were bought and businesses re-located (and also the Balgreen allotments). </p> <p>I think CERT buses were going to use the Western Approach Road so the tram isnt using some of the land that was CPOed. </p> <p>Some CERT officials went to work for tie. </p> <p>"@bax - great map, not one I've seen "</p> <p>Ditto. Sound familiar?</p> <p>I believe they went as far as compulsory purchase and relocating of some buildings at Westfield alongside the Water of Leith to make way for it (where Wolfson are).
