The road was closed for bridge repairs for quite a while a year or two ago and I don't know why Midlothian didn't take the opportunity to do something. </p> <p>The worst bit is about a mile and you can usually get away with cycling on the wrong side. Once you get to the Borders border it is much better. </p>
