There is the dental floss one we discussed previously. It is very light and would stop someone without nail-clippers from walking off with your bike. THat one is at the other end of the spectrum - almost for a motorbike?

I'm routinely carrying 4.5kg of lock. And often another 4-6kg of milk on the home run.

Worth remembering as I drop behind on a Hilly Tuesday!

Inflatable could be tricky to get looking right but plastic chain looks real (well, it is real of course, you know what I mean...) and is almost as light. The stuff meant for fences is cheap too.

Plastic padlocks are harder to find....

Someone should make an inflatable lock. Visible deterrent and zero weight.

Just weighed my U lock and Kryptoflex cable (lives wrapped around the U lock) and they came in at about 1.1kg

If my luggage scale is to be believed, my wee chain is 2.5kg and my bigger one 4.6kg. If I'm expecting to lock my shiniest bike up in town I use the chunky chain, but otherwise I'll plump for the light option.

I have a similar lock by Abus I think (possibly even more chunky, in fact).

Not something to carry around, although it can be worn easily as a belt, but it's very fine if you need to lock up in public regularly (i.e. at work). When I used to have a bike that easily came apart I kept it here paired with a D-lock.

For £20 I'd highly recommend... mine was about 3x that (10 years ago!)

5lb !

My daily ride doesnt look anything special (actually it isnt anything special), and keep a £2 abus combo in the carradice to lock it up outside a shop etc - this weighs next to nothing, would not deter a decent pair of pliers, but the combination of a rubbishy looking bike and any lock seems to have worked so far.

That one is pretty reasonable for someone looking to leave a decent chain at work or something though.

For the mildly paranoid (or those needing to leave valuable bikes in public) this is currently 1/3 off -
