Bow Bar was my local when In lived in town. Parliament then appeared at the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. A certain tallish SNP MSP then started frequenting the place.

Wore a skinsuit kayaking off the barrier reef for health and safety porpoises. Speed skaters and downhill skiers also favour such garb, some joggers would be veering that way and the chap they kept in the trunk in that Quentin Tarantino movie. Agreed a fairly narrow demographic.

I used to wear universal trousers and carry over trousers for the rain but this winter stuck to biblongs with trousers rolled up in the pannier. I can switch between the two or indeed wear the biblongs under the civvies

Was in Bow Bar yesterday about 4pm - group of 6 lads on a stag dressed as one long caterpillar walked past ! Tres amusing.

Surprising lack of Morphsuits (given you can drink thru the material) but normal stag party body shapes perhaps a wee bit roly poly for morphsuit/skinsuits.

Pleased to report their were no fancy dress in Cloisters, unless you count 2 or 3 avant garde beards.

The idea that the clothing you wear contributes to the likelihood you will cycle is I fear not proven.

Certainly in a world where heliocentric theory (or even just round Earth!), evolutionary theory etc. are not considered proven, few things can be.

That said, I don't see many people in skinsuits not cycling...

good to see people on Lothian Road with clothes on . Not so great an advert for non-naked cycling to have someone cycling down the pavement. Also red and purple together? Maybe?

The idea that the clothing you wear contributes to the likelihood you will cycle is I fear not proven.

The middle aged men in lycra (MAMIL) group which I appear to drift in and out of without any difficulty [now, tho I admit I was self conscious around the office to begin with, but now I do not care], enjoys buying kit (see also middle aged persons hillwalking] this commodity fetishisation actually encourages cycling. Lycra good for cycling outrage.

Getting normal or lycra underwear in a twist about what should be worn is a distraction sponsored by the car industry [I am making this bit up] to deflect from us all successfully coming together on 28th April to protest about the traffic and the attitude of some drivers to cyclists

I'm obviously on the wrong side of town, I hardly ever see anyone looking more normal than me, which is setting the bar pretty low!

I confess I'd have fitted right in with that lot this morning, on a farmer's market run riding the old Raleigh iron horse, clad in thrift shop finery and going hatless.
