@wingpig - yes that's the fashion at the moment, 'twould appear.

Either the bike has had the brakes disconnected, or removed completely...

Passed a pair of them down the Dalkeith Road this week, and have noticed it at the kids' primary school too.

Almost forgot last night's BMX-riding unlit numpty, first spotted whirring up to the higher of the two Pollock roundabouts. After eventually deciding to take the exit for the road down to the Scotsman (his course was somewhat wavering and uncertain) he then pulled into the middle (presumably to turn off onto the grass) and started braking. With the sole of his foot on the rear wheel. Would this be because he perceived it to be somehow cooler or because he genuinely had no working brakes? On a BMX, which presumably requires them to do BMX-y stuff?

Well, Friday's actually...
I thought I'd seen it all a couple of months ago when a teenager on a mountain bike went past me through the red light at Jock's Lodge whilst doing a wheelie but on Friday night, about 7pm (i.e. after dark) a guy who was old enough to know better (judging by his, ahem, shiny-headed-ness), on a bike with no lights, went straight through the London Road/Easter Road junction on red NO HANDS!
Unbelievable...
