Slight detour, but how about cutting through at Russell Road, through Murieston, up Ardmillan onto Dundee Street then you can approach a number of ways - Johnston Terrace if you're feeling fit or through Grassmarket. All fairly quiet streets or, failing that, slow moving at least.

The "direct" route for me would take me down Morrison Street through Haymarket, but I long ago gave up using that in either direction.

Johnston Terrace is both-ways for bikes / taxis / buses.

Google suggests that Uberuce has dodged a bullet again...

Seems very out of your way though!

Johnstone Terrace is one of those shiny roads that's one way except for bus/taxi/cycle isn't it?

If not, I'm plainly go to have to go down in a hail of bullets rather than go back inside.

I commute regularly to work and since the new works at the east end of prince street I'm forced to cycle along Queen Street as I don't really want to navigate the road works at Princes Mall where I'd have to dismount.

I could cycle along Princes street but they have cyclist dismount signs so I feel like I'm breaking the rules. Plus then I'd have to push to the Balmoral.

I could do George street but again, the busses interweaving isn't the safest of options.

Does anyone have any wisdom that they may know of any better solution. (I've even though about going up Johnstone terrace and down the royal mile swinging around Waverley station to come in the back way but johnstone terrace is one way!

There just seems to be no easy / safe way! :(
