UPDATE - however your route might be flatter!

Aye that's the thing, I want to try to avoid those hills. I don't mind hills too much, but hills combined with loads of traffic light stops will drive me mad!

I recently filled my wheels with this kevlar lining in an effort to reduce punctures. Oh my god it's an effort to get up hills now!

"Hello. I'm new here, so apologies if this isn't the correct place to ask this!"

Welcome, perfect place.

"Erm... just noticed the large "Cycle journey planner" button up there. I'll give that a go..."

And the good news is that it very recently was able to handle Post Codes

http://edinburgh.cyclestreets.net/journey/120943

Three quite different routes to try!

UPDATE - however your route might be flatter!

Hello. I'm new here, so apologies if this isn't the correct place to ask this!

I've just moved down to West Granton Road (EH5 1FB) and commute to St Mary's Street (EH1 1SX).

So far I've been heading down the Telford/Roseburn cycleway to the A8 then nipping down Haymarket -> Lothian Road -> Kings Stables Road -> Cowgate -> St Mary's Street.

This is a bit longer than using the roads but there is obviously way less traffic lights/cars/suicidal pedestrians to concern myself with.

My query is, does anyone have any route suggestions that would further cut down the amount of time spent on the road? Specifically from the A8 onwards.

I don't mind a longer or radically different route, the key thing is that I spend more time on cycle paths.

Thanks a lot,
David
