Is thetr a lsrge twxt buttpn for this sitw? I can't read this pist or see mu kryboard propwely.

In all seriousness I have glasses and am amazed how my eyes can and have changedin only the 2 years I leave between eye tests. Perhaps it is time to have the driving licence linked to an eye test every couple of years.

Yes, I have wondered about this - especially as eyes can deteriorate slowly - and people may not actually realise they have a problem.

I got my licence in 1986 and did the 'number plate across a car park' test - all well and good I thought.

I first thought my eyesight was 'going' in 1990 (in italy for the world cup, couldnt make out the players properly - a blessing, given how poorly scotland performed).

When I went to the opticians afterward and put the correct prescription on, it was a eureka moment - like seeing the world for the first time !

With all the talk on here about SMIDSY and the effectiveness of bright/reflective, I wonder how many drivers (and cyclists) would pass a basic eye test - and why they not required every few years.

This case is just extreme -

"
However, just three months after the fatal incident in Notting Hill in February 2009, Lopes had failed an eye test and his driving licence was revoked. He got it back in April 2010, and returned to driving HGVs.
