before it was suzie's it was Seeds, same menu but a workers co-operative. Used to just have the west half of the space and became very crowded at lunch time. Expanded then disbanded as workers' co-op. The xmas dinner was spectacular and you could bring your own wine. to earn a living from a restaurant requires working very long hours.

I once saw Lucien Freud coming out of Scotmid round the corner (now Lidl). For reasons I do not understand people found this unbelievable. But I am 100% on it and only50/50 on whether it was David Byrne I spotted on the Glasgow Underground or just a big nervy guy with fancy shoes (purple brothelcreepers - nice) and yet the same people belive that one. As posted many times here David Byrne has designed some bikestands whch are 'kinda neat'.

That's a real shame great food and atmosphere. I once saw Johnny Ball eating in there and Edinburgh band Aberfeldy wrote the song 'vegetarian restaurant' about suzies diner.

"Susie's Wholefood Diner, on West Nicholson Street, a favourite eatery for vegetarians and vegans across the city, dished up its last meals on Saturday night.

The restaurant has been sold to new owners and is expected to re-open later this year as a Vietnamese noodle bar.

Owner Ian Wilson, 44, from the Meadows, said he had come to the "difficult" decision to close the diner after reaching a "crossroads" in his career. He said the recession, along with the pressing need to refurbish the building, had convinced him it was time to move on."
Story on EEN website

That's a real shame. I had dinner there just a few days ago and thought to myself just how much I liked the food, the rustic interior and the occasional visiting musician.
