The traffic was horrendous today out in E Lothian...what with the airshow, racing at Musselburgh, and for an all together different experience, about 100 horses at the top of Carberry Hill, which had come off the Pentcaitland path. One woman at the back, on an extremely frisky, and headstrong mount, looked me straight in the eye and asked me if I would like to swap. I declined, I was in charge of my steed...and she was clearly not enjoying her ride very much. A small group of us had stopped at Merryhatton for some sustenance and to get out of the rain, and it tipped down...We left the garden centre just as the display started, so we stopped for a gander, and were buzzed by one plane that flew extremely low right over us, it had passed over us a few minutes before going the other way, and came back to give us all a right good fright, so low it was that one of our number ducked...and the rest of us were left with palpitations. Well, I mean you could feel the afterburner for heaven's sake. Talk about hedgehopping!! I did a few years back and it's a nice ride, fun passing the queueing cars, and you can take your bike in.
