I don't bother, but just make the right turn out of Russell Road (or whatever the road is called) and then 1st left and up the hill a bit to a point where the access to the path is flatter. However I'm usually in MAWIL mode if I'm going that way and so have no problem with making that manoeuver. There are a few picnic tables at the clibming centre or better there are a load of them at and in the vicinity of the Ratho bridge inn for those that don't want to go to EICA. Again the EICA will be time dependent. There is a pedestrian crossing if the roads are busy that can be used to get to the north side of the street - bikes can be pushed to water of leith visitor centre, does nice cup of tea. Then on to inglis green road past the derelict b and q then another pedestrian crossing to red hall drive from where you can enter side road and cycle up to red hall park and from there the small tunnel under the railway takes you back to canal at point where you join the WoL path. I use this route in reverse coming on canal from wester hailes but without the pushing on occasion to avoid the aqueduct?
