What makes it worse is it was a job in sports journalism. Now there's an oxymoron*...

*okay, Tom English in the Scotland on Sunday is excellent, and Richard Moore gets some nice articles in there as well.

Outrage as Iconic Applicant Denied Dream Job by Petty Bureaucrats

An EEN insider told us how Mr Robson's insistence on "facts" and undertaking research fatally undermined his application to work with the iconic Edinburgh paper. In addition, they were concerned that he didn't have enough experience of drinking before lunch, a key skill developed during journalism training, to fit in to with the news team.

I presume fiction writing is a required module in modern journalism courses....

There's a 'story' in the chipwrapper today that the basement in which Suzanne Pilley is thoguht to have been killed is on the rental market again.

I'm not sure if the paper expected the property to become a permanent shrine...

This line summed it up beautifully: "No mention of the case is made on the property particulars, which boast its location and car park as an asset"

To think I once applied for a job writing for the EEN and was turned down because, sole reason, I didn't have a journalism degree.
