The rain was quite light as I left for work so I just put my rainlegs on instead of my proper waterproof trousers. Unfortunately I exited the tunnel into a deluge so heavy I had to stop twice because <em>my eyes were full of water</em>. And my rainlegs just funnelled the water to the midline and down, so now I have wet feet, wet shins and a wet crotch. Approach at speed with insane cackling. Just before hitting the water, apply more speed. I have to say there was some very courteous driving on the A70 on the out of town section (i.e. before I got to Balerno) - people sat behind me and negotiated the odd big puddle without feeling the need to hammer past and splash me. (Not helped by roadworks at Gillepie crossroads.) This may be nonsense.</p> <p>Even with a diesel you have to be careful to drive slowly enough that the "bow wave" doesn't rise up enough to enter the air intake.
