It may not actually get these companies to fork out the taxes that they will not have to pay or even make much difference but it might make you feel better to know that you have voted for the likes of McDonalds, Coca-Cola to pay corporate taxes. Express an opinion here...

Yes, I've got a 3.com battery powered wireless hub. It works for MacBook, iPad and any other wifi thing in the area. Everybody in the adjoining classes knows the password. It works for my HP wireless printer in school so people could use that too if they wanted.

Looks like more than half of the Hamden tickets are stil available but the schools have closed so it's going to be difficult to give them away.

I usually dread the Olympics but this one is some new kind of hell.

Is it sufficiently-carefully-worded to prevent you taking in a 25l bag containing 250 100ml containers of a liquid of your choice, perhap along with a collapsible camping water container of about 25l capacity rolled-up in a pocket?

Are you just not allowed to bring non-competitor flagstuffs into the venue or not allowed to display them, should you fancy creating a new flag out of torn-up (assuming scissors are banned) bits of competitors' flags whilst within the Cordon of Overreaction?

It really does smack of preserving the "rights" of the big corporate sponsor rather than any thing sensible like security. If they were at least up front about it, it probably wouldn't bother me so much... Security theatre i think is the technical term.

Are there many battery powered wireless hubs that aren't smartphones??

On August 9th I'll be savouring the white hot atmosphere of women's quarter final handball (I said yes to going to my friend who sorted the tickets in the distant hope he'd get cycling or track & field tickets - should have known better). He's just got the email giving details on the 'international flight like' security restrictions.

The old 100ml of liquid one is there. So what if you're thirsty? You can take an empty bottle in with you to fill up with liquids bought at the venue apparently (seriously, that's the official solution - why, on having to buy the drink in there, you wouldn't just drink it out of the liquid holder they'll also supply you with I don't know). Cynically, it couldn't possibly be so that the only drinks imbibed at the venue are those provided by a certain Coca-Cola could it?

Others are odd. Flags of countries not competing at the Games aren't allowed (I'm guessing this might be a Palestine-aimed restriction) which is going to involve some hardcore flag training for the security staff; and while your bag size is limited (to 25 litres AND it must fit under your seat) additionally you are not allowed to take in 'excessive' amounts of food. Not sure who determines that, but at least they're not just suggesting you take in your own cardboard box into which you can pour your McDonald's fries.

Thankfully big hats and vuvuzelas are restricted too.
