I got caught out on the Kincardine Bridge a few months ago.
Was crossing south to north and wanted to head east on the north side.

I crossed on the west side of the bridge and ended up having to loop round anticlockwise on the north side to get under the bridge.

Checking OSM/Sustrans later I see that I should have crossed the approach dual carriageway useing a footbridge. (I was sticking to the path network where I could).

Ended up cycling across to St Andrews last Thursday for a chunk of the International Sax Congress, and then back as far as Linlithgow on the Friday. Blimey, the A91 is a dull, dull road. Hedges either side so there's no view, very few villages to break it up, and loads of lorries. Fife Coastal Route by contrast is pretty pleasant.

Thoroughly confused by the bridges though. Had to resort to a detailed look at OSM to dig out how to join the cyclepath for the Forth Road Bridge, and had similar issues with the Kincardine. I don't mind cycling on dual carriageways, but I'm not keen on joining them just as they stop being a motorway...

Still, didn't get rained on once. Result!
