These people couldn't run a bath.

"We are training more than 20 drivers and conductors every day"

Soundbite alert! That sounds impressive but what if it's the same ones being trained for several years? Not so useful.

“

Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale MSP Christine Grahame said: “I was really angry and disappointed to hear what happened on Sunday, February 11.

“I had, in good faith, welcomed the news that additional carriages would be put on for the France match, so it was a big let-down to hear from my constituents that this was not the reality on the day.

“I’m pleased to hear ScotRail are putting on extra carriages for this weekend but will be keeping a close eye on it given the fiasco last time.

“

does the (any) government actually bother to look at anything put before them about rail/road/cycle or are they just programmed to say it "goes from strength to strength" - reality doesnt seem to reach them so how can we think they will do anything about it.

“

Members were right to say that there have been a number of studies, so I can understand their frustration. I can also understand the frustration around the STAG process in some respects. Jenny Gilruth and others are not the only people to have raised that with me. I am speaking to my officials at Transport Scotland about looking at the STAG process in general, not just for rail projects but for a number of our infrastructure projects. That said, members will know from the Fife Council study report—of which I have a copy, of course—that from within the guidelines two potential transport options emerged: a bus option and the rail link option that is favoured by the majority.

Big comfy seats and tables, slam doors that only open from outside, and a big guards van at the back with loads of space for bikes, luggage etc.

Excepting accessibility, I'm inclined to agree. One of the most pleasing features of loco-hauled stock is that there's no engine and transmission inches beneath your bum under the floor filling the cabin with constant noise and vibration.

"

There is widespread concern that Network Rail has been guilty of ‘gold plating’ schemes making many worthy proposals seem unafordable. The 40 security cameras provided at Stow station on the Borders Railway is but one example of profligate expenditure.

The Borders Railway corridor contributed £23bn to nearby regions in 2015. The perfect place to do business!

http://pic.twitter.com/NFRcVz79OM

"

The phrase 'made up figure' comes to mind, better this spin than 'new road will create millions of jobs and save billions in reducing congestion' etc.

Very likely that the mamils had booked. However how did they work out that the train would have the spaces? Do you phone up and say four on the 8.30 - sorry, 9.00 sorry 9.30 sorry 10.00a.m. Yes ? Then that will definitely be he rolling stock for that time barring mishaps?
