Many of these types end up in the RIE having had passers-by call an ambulance for them. They are usually just really pissed off because they get given opiate reversal treatment which of course negates the taking of the substance in the first place, and also annoyed that they have wasted the money on getting completely out of it in any case. I shook him to see if he was unconscious but he woke up and then went back to sleep. So I roused him again and asked him if he knew he was on a cycle path. He looked surprised, then said it was fine. I asked if he wanted me to contact anyone and he said no, he was fine and closed his eyes again. So I left him to it. The man operating the approaching sweeper seemed to be having a bit of a think about whether or not to squeeze past. </p>
