Never heard of it? Was it not mentioned in a previous thread when Mr SRD was looking for a new bike? I seem to recall it was.

Bingo! I think iratesheep wins the (nonexistant) prize*. It's a while back now,but i'm pretty ure you've got it. Chap who rides it works in the military, so that fits.

I knew someone on the forum would know. I'd never heard of the parabike. But I see there is one of some vintage on ebay and this announcement from Pashley.

Now Im wondering if the one I saw was an original wartime one or not.

*That' th second prize you've won! wonder if we can get laidback to donate the usual.

Was it a Parabike of some sort?

Pashley does one, in green.

There's a rather beautiful Jones mountainbike which I have seen around. Not green though. Silver titanium unless it's been painted?

No, it wasn't but well spotted. that doesn't look like the one spotted here occassionally on Dakeith road. (sorry my original description was obviously very bad).

Searching 'men's upright bike' led me to this pic , which while not the bike i saw, suggests to me that I must have seen an older model Schwinn.

thanks arellcat!

the one I saw was sort of half-way between a truss bridge, and a pederson/moulton cross, with fewer angles (more curves).

Truss bridge bicycles were popular(ish) in the very early 1900s and take their name from the similarity (if not really of the design itself) from the truss arch bridge; think Ironbridge, rather than Sydney Harbour. Iver Johnson was the main manufacturer back then.

The only modern creations I can dig up are made by Ant Bicycles in Massachusetts. The one SRD might have seen would perhaps be their Truss Roadster.

More on Lovely Bicycle! blog.

I'm not sure of the arched frame, but the truss bridge description suggests a Moulton.

Saw a bike today and foolishly didn't take a pic. Lovely green colour, oldfashioned looking solid men's bike, with an arched frame similar to the truss bridge bikes, but more swoopy. Anyone know what it might have been? I'm sure I've seen a picture of one like it before.
