That is indeed sad news. I used to live in Leicester, it has a strong car culture down there and a city centre which is constantly battling to survive against the out of town shopping parks that generate vast amounts of extra traffic. It has a reasonable network of quiet roads and cycle paths ideal for getting around quickly by bike so cycling has an extremely important role to play but with many returners to cycling desperately needing practical advice, help and even inspiration to get them started. The first wave of 'SKY rides' happened in Leicester and my friends there say they are very enjoyable. They said it really felt like cycling was gathering momentum and this gave some hope for the city's future. I hope Cycle Magic has inspired enough folk already for them to continue cycling and I'll be watching with great interest to see where they pop up next.

That's really sad.

EDIT: in a sad way, I mean! Not a cynical sarky way. That a lovely-sounding campaign can just be overwhelmed by negativity. Awful for them.

This is in Leicester, not Edinburgh, and likely to be a celebration with sadness.

It will mark the end of cyclemagic - think a combination of Spokes and The Bike Station, with a particular interest in unusual bikes and helping people with disabilities to get active.

"
After thirteen years of working together and a total of 45 years spent promoting cycling in Leicester, the growing level of local bureaucracy has overwhelmed our enjoyment of running the organisation.
"
"
We will retain the Cyclemagic brand name and, after an extended and long overdue break, plan to relocate elements of the organisation to another town.
"
