@Uberuce: Thanks! But I'm afraid minimoth and I are out this evening (not sure when we'll be getting back). We can pop 'round to get it tomorrow evening, if you're in? I'm pm you my mobile.

[uhoh, you're going to see the state my bike's in! I'll be taking it to the bike station on Saturday morning to get back wheel straightened and mud guard fixed - still broken from when we found our bikes had been climbed(?) over after going to a show in the fringe]

@sallyhinch: Maybe copy the request to a new thread so people notice? :)

Lionfish, are you free tonight? I'm doing a recycling run to the Sainsbury so if you're around it'd be easypants for me to drop the trailer off then.

I don't suppose anyone (with or without kids) might want to craft us a golden postbox as well? That way people can post their postcards then and there if they can't make it to the 'pedal on postbox' event...

It's advised strongly that you do not, but in terms of weight, yarp. Bodge a seat on so there's no issue with fingers getting caught in the wheels and it'd be doable, certainly.

Thanks Uberuce!

@wfb: Thanks for the info. Sounds like it'll be ok then.

@Uberuce: Maybe I should pop over before hand, ~Thursday/Friday to make sure it works with my bike. Also will a (folded) gazebo fit on it? If not, maybe should look at the bike-station offer...

@retro: Thanks for the suggestion. Which is a gazebo more likely to fit in?...

@minimoth: How big is it folded up?

Plus the folded table (although that only has to be moved ~1/2 a mile, so could be walked).

And the postcards will fit in a pannier...

I'll have a word with one of my parents, who happens to work at the Bike Station, about borrowing said device if there's any interest in a PY cargomoot.

One of my parents as in: I look after his kid.

And yarp, it's a Freedom, so it looks like we're sorted, lionfish. I don't forsee me needing it after tomorrow when I do my weekly Sainsbury trailerfull, so whichever night suits you best ought to suit me.

If it's a Carry Freedom hitch I use them on Sturmey Archer and SRAM three and five speed hubs with no trouble. You need 4mm of space so I can't use it on the 2 speed Brompton.

I'm one of the Harrison Park Mob, and I think you're trivially close, so the logistics of the hitch/trailer swap are easy enough.

I would hazard a guess that any derailleur hub less than 25 years old will be on QR dimensions, and I've not even looked to see if the hitch is that tight. Dave used the same one on his S-A hub bikes, so it may be completely moot.

I've not got QR but I assume the axle nuts are the same diameter (any idea how to check?). Quite excited! I've never used a trailer before! (although it might be someone else doing the moving...).

Thanks Uberuce - I don't know if we'll need it yet, I'll keep you posted. I can come and pick it up ~Thursday to save you the hassle of dropping it off. Or could meet in GS. I'll probably keep it on campus somewhere (in a bike shed [or office?..maybe not..]).

Thanks again! I knew we could depend on CCE! :D

PS I deliberately didn't go with QR as a vague protection against wheel-theft (although I can see locking the wheels with a lock would be far more effective :).

Yarp, they can have the use of mine. I'll have to drop it off on the Thursday, though. As long as the intended tractor unit has a QR skewer, or at least axle nuts of that diameter, then my hitch will work fine. It's the work of seconds to swap them over if they're both QRs.

Hello!
I don't know if they'll definitely need it yet, but PoP might need to transport a gazebo for PfS on the 9th Sept. To do so we might need a cargo bike/trailer in Edinburgh. Does anyone have one they could lend? (guess this is a bit cheeky, but figure it's a cause a lot of people here support :). How do trailers attach to bikes (do I need a tow-bar on my bike?)

Thanks CCE! :D
