OH got a boardman Comp Fi hybrid, seems pretty solid.

Young lad at halfords also did a good job setting it up, didn't have to tweak anything except the stuff the OH wanted done.

Thanks...it does seem to be widely felt that they are good kit for the price, as long as you carefully check the bike over as soon as you get it and do not rely on Halfords setting it up safely. Particularly the BB30 which they are supposed to grease but often fail to do apparently, leading to swift failure.
Halfords claim no knowledge of a refresh of the Boardman MTBs this year which seems to tie in with web info that the Boardman range is on a 2 year refresh, er, cycle. So this looks like it might be a go-er!

I know a couple of people who ride Boardman bikes. Both like them, push them hard (on roads) and they don't fall apart. Key weakness with Boardman bikes does seem to be the assembly at your local Halfords, which is harder to control.

Boardmans (Boardmen?) have a pretty good reputation all-told. No direct experience, but not heard any major issues about them (save those that have been put together by Halfords).

Anyone got, or had experience of, one of the Boardman hardtail MTBs? Any advice, positive or negative or otherwise, to offer?
