Even people using bikes as a means of transport to work are aware of much more than their personal commute.</p> <p>There's the whole business of dealing with other road users - like the motorist who had "<a href="http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=840">one of those mini palm computers in the lap</a>" and the planning process - <a href="http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=839">more <em>car</em> parking at ERI</a>, <a href="http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=833">health benefits</a>, <a href="http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=643">watching the wildlife</a>, <a href="http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=695">bikes on trains</a>, etc. etc.</p> <p>The great thing about 'cycling' is that it isn't <em>just</em> about transport. In political terms it's often boxed into the Transport corner (if you're lucky), thus ignoring all the health benefits and the <em>potential</em> for running cities (Edinburgh in particular) on less (conventionally) car dominated lines.</p> <p>This morning I got a couple of e-mails that look at at some of these issues in more detail.</p> <p>On Saturday, in Glasgow, there's the <a href="http://www.citystrolls.com/reshuffle10/may-prog10.htm">May Reshuffle Program</a>.</p> <p>"The Common Good and the appliance of Science Learn about Scottish Wildlife under threat.
