Melville Drive - heading east to work in the morning, has had me wincing - and I was wearing polaroids. It worse on the 'bent because my head is lying back, so I can't look so far down. Ah well, it was beautiful seeing the low sun on glinging on the Meadows, so I suppose I can take the fused retina every now and agin

I actually got asked this in my driving test. It wasn't a bit I'd mugged up on so I took a punt on finding a safe place to pull in and wait until conditions were such that I could continue driving safely.

@chdot... ha ha ha!! Expecting drivers (and some cyclists) to know and actually observe the highwaycode is a complete waste of time.

Over the summer a driver slowed down as I exited his street and told me I should be on the path. When I pointed out that Highway code rule 64 states cyclist are not allowed on the pavement, he looked puzzled and his wife had to dig him in the ribs and tell him to leave me alone!

Perhaps drivers and adult cyclists should be allowed on the road only after passing a multiple choice test on the Highway code annualy? (tricky question as what do children do?)

At 12.30pm the sun is almost directly overhead, even at this time of year. The sun blinds fitted above car windscreens should screen all but the lowest sun. Liar, liar, pants on fire to that dangerous driver. She was going too fast and wasn't looking, more like.

That sun was awful. I was quite worried that I just wasn't going to be visible (and was therefore taking a line nearer to the kerb than I normally do) until I spotted another cyclist up ahead and realised he wasn't as invisible as I'd feared.

(Did have a "moment" with a van which moved off - I hadn't noted it as something that I should have been paying attention to, oops. I've no idea if he indicated or anything. Given that he was parked and I was going along the road it was his responsibility to move off without hitting anything...)
