When there was more money around, they used to want tram systems for the same reason.</p> <p>What they don't seem to want is actual, real cyclists who take up real space on roads, annoy motorists just by being there and have real, practical needs. They're not prepared to tell motorists they've got to give up some road space, keep a proper distance from cyclists and behave decently towards them.
