Good quality open water (ie housing beside a nice canal) gets a value boost of up to 50% compared to similar properties in a general housing development, likewise the proximity of green space, or mature trees, &amp; even cycle routes<br /> A 1988 study of house sales along the Burke Gilman Trail beside Lake Washington (Seattle) noted the references to the cycle trail as a selling feature, as well as assessing the value uplift for proximity to the trail.
