Also it is not just economic factors that count, there is quality of life and safety of children to take into account. Because the roads were seen as being dangerous many middle class families kept their kids off the roads, hence the need for that second car, the result? An obesity epidemic and lots of miserable kids. People are beginning to recognise this and think there must be a better way, there is, just look across the North Sea to the better quality of life in so many continental towns and cities, we can do that here...</p> <p>@Nelly "regardless of infrastructure improvements." can you show any evidence to back that up?
