The "Great Storm" of 1987 reached "only" 953mBar.</p> <p>Looking at the <a href="http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/surface-pressure/">Met Office's surface pressure charts</a>, there's a low of 963mBar sitting off the NW of Scotland somewhere in the direction of the Faeroes.
