This may or may not be evidence in favour of my theory that minimal braking is worse for rims. I reckon letting a thicker layer of gubbins build up before each application of the brakes might be worse than braking a lot.

Or it could just be because back wheels get muckier and that's all she wrote. I think I use both handbrakes when I'm using them at all, which on the commute isn't that often.

@uberuce, slightly worrying as you ride that fixed and prob don't use rear brake that much?

Same rims on my Day01 obviously, hence my self interest!

Not sure how much I want the same ones, given they're just over a year old.

If you buy the same rims, it's extremely easy to rebuild with the same spokes. It's like building a wheel from scratch, but you can 'cheat' by replacing the spokes one at a time, with the rims taped together :)

I sent the back wheel from wee blue floofy into my LBS for truing and a spoke replacement, but in the course of putting the studded Marathons back on(which transform the bike into wintersaurus) I noticed that the rim is down past the wear line.

I'm not impressed with myself for not noticing this before handing it in, but even less so at the shop for missing it too.

So I'll need new rims. What's the craic with that? I imagine I wander over to the Bike Works and see if the existing spokes can be used to lace the hub back onto new rims, and if not, it's hardly a bank-buster.
