Well it's my birthday and I am now the proud owner of a BLACK B17 Narrow saddle!
I have to decide now whether to put it on the Bad Boy as planned, or on the mountain bike since (with the studded tyres) it's getting all the attention at the moment.

Also need to look up what the bolt and hence spanner are for.

:)

The black ones are actually very, very, very, very, very, very, very dark brown.

Very, very, very, very, very, very, very dark brown is the new black.

I thought the only acceptable colour for a brooks was a shade of brown.

Just in case you were contemplating one of the pre-aged Brooks saddles: note that the light tan finish darkens a lot when you use Proofide (administered to the underside, it soaks through and changes the shade of the visible surface of the saddle). I've also proofed my non-aged black B17 but I can't tell if that was affected because... well... it's black. But I guess it might darken a honey saddle, mebbe?

I've got honey on black frames and black on black frames.

From front to back, B17 (honey), B17 narrow (brown), Champion Flyer (honey). All on dark blue frames (like the black socks that non-priests wear)

I think trying to match saddle to frame colour doesn't really work - even black on black you'll have two shades of black and they will have differing textures and just look different.

This means go with the brown. Natural or honey, they're both fabulous :) B17 and the B17 Narrow both very comfortable from the first ride. Have never decided which is comfier, but the narrow suits a lower down riding position, regular for more upright. But there's not much in it.

@excitableboy, sorry I missed you.

My biggest thing with the coloured ones is that (in my tiny mind) the brown ones are 'natural' and just change hue depending on use / dampness.

This may all be figments of my imagination.

There is more than one type of B17. I prefer the narrow model but I have a standard width too.

Nelly, saw your bike outside Edinburgh Cycles a couple of weeks ago - looked nice.

"Royal Blue would be a mistake IMHO" - aww, I picture it in my head and it looks great, but I'd need to see it/live with it for a while, to be sure.

I have a classic brown B17 Narrow on the genesis (which is yellow if that makes any odds?)

I like the brown, but I also quite like black - Royal Blue would be a mistake IMHO.

So, it's my birthday soon and time to spoil myself a little. Thought I'd finally get myself a B17 Brooks saddle; which I've been tempted by for a while.

It is to go on my Cannondale Bad Boy which is all black. Since other's here have a way of making their bikes look 'sweet' I thought I'd ask for a little guidance.

Should I get one in black, or Royal Blue? Or another colour?? Or a different saddle?
