To be fair I'm a big fan of "old fashioned". I just don't believe the "boutique" approach to what are basically utility designs adds anything except a ridiculous price tag.

@gembo I think so. I certainly expect it to be an upright (means they can easily do male/female on same jigs but just adjust basket placement) and be ideally suited to cruising along a canal in search of a nice picnic spot. (I don't think there is anything wrong with this btw)

Some loose translating:

"boutique bicycle manufacturer", like a normal bicycle manufacturer but producing old tech at very high end modern prices.

"born out of a passion for the bicycle and the traditions of its builders. Our guiding principles were formed by a desire to continue those traditions", Passion costs, oh and we weren't kidding about old fashioned.

"We’ve kept the classic elegance and style but brought them into the 21st century with a modern twist of materials and componentry", we can't afford/be bothered building our own components so we'll have someone build a basic steel frame, albeit with modern tubing, do some nice paint and graphics and slap some of the shelf componentry on it.

"The result is a perfect blend of contemporary build quality and British heritage design", we did mention old fashioned with some new compnents on it didn't we... oh and price, well... if you're in our target demographic you don't know what a bike costs anyway, got to be cheaper than the Bentley hasn't it?

"bicycles to which the discerning modern man can aspire", because anyone can buy a carbon fibre "racer" for a measly five grand or so, you want something to look down on people from don't you?

"our frames are made by one of the country’s most respected independent frame builders and our wheels are handmade by a hugely talented British wheelbuilder."
Then we get a man to put them together, put them in an arty London showroom, waffle a lot about heritage and add a mahoosive markup to all prices to ensure they are suitably exclusive.

etc etc etc.

If anyone would like a truly handbuilt bike in the style of your choosing with the components of your choosing then please send me a blank cheque and I'll build you a beaut, it'll be a darn sight more exclusive than a Vickers as well, and I can make it as expensive if you really want! Say, why don't we call it an Avro once it's made, it'd be about as relevant!? (rant off)
;-)

Curious for a bike company to put up neither a picture of one of their charges, or the charge for one of them!

I suspect it's along the lines of "If you even have to ask what it looks like, you can't afford it."

Flandrian lion is already used by Renner among others. (Brand created by John Anderson of The Bicycle Works.)

They have a Renner bike in shop next door although it's really clothing they sell at moment.

http://rennersport.com/

John, Andrew and David have been going over to Flanders for years and decided to do this joint Scottish/Belgian promotion. Stewarts are responsible for the branded beer and items although imported are printed locally. Some nice photography too.

I see the owner is a Mr. Covey - I guess there's no harm in shamelessly borrowing one of the most classic names of British industrial heritage. Not sure about the Flandrian lion as a logo for a British bicycle company, a little bit confusing, although the use of British Army recognition diamond as a backdrop is fine I guess.

Curios for a bike company to put up neither a picture of one of their charges, or the charge for one of them!

As Loretta/Stan would say in Life of Brian "or women"

"The result is a perfect blend of contemporary build quality and British heritage design that has created bicycles to which the discerning modern man can aspire."

the elegant font has failed to reproduce, also I cannot yet see the bikes but will keep trying. they sound good but I imagine they will be very expensive.
