Dublin Street/Drummond Place/London Road are also backed right up with angry rat-runners in case any stupid idiot thinks they can avoid the Broughton Road death zone that way.

"
NEW Town residents plagued by traffic chaos today appealed for more signs to encourage motorists to use alternative routes.

Roadworks linked to the tram project have seen lengthy rush-hour tailbacks in Broughton Street, Albany Street and Abercromby Place all this week.

Transport convener Lesley Hinds said many drivers were still using the route, introduced as the official diversion for most traffic when York Place was shut for tram works in the summer, even though there was now a different diversion using North and South St David Street, Princes Street and Leith Street

No mention of the ultraroadworkathon. Obviously no provision has been made to allow pedestrians to cross, they just have to run between cars which is probably difficult when you are 81.

When on Broughton st I ride leftcat the crescent and cut through to Scotland st. Its virtually traffic free (the cut through) and down hill so not too much of a long way round.

Oh and of course you now have to give way at Albany Street when using Dublin Street as they re-prioritised it for motorists. The pedestrian crossing makes that possible, otherwise it is a bit of a motorway.

St Andrews Sq is still mostly blocked. There is a little stretch of road there now so you don't have to walk all the way from the top of Dublin Street to West Register Street which is a slight improvement.

Anyone know what North Bridge / St Andrews Sq / Dublin St is like now? That would be the only practical way for me to take the tunnel.

I discovered it about two years after they seemed to have torn up all cycle facilities on this national cycle route, and when the trams moved in and I had to run on the busy pavement with the bike, went back to Broughton St.

I ignore it all and head through thwe tunnel on the way home via Scotland St. On the way in, the coned off lane makes it easier to cross as I only have one lane to cross which has nice gaps as the lights change and the traffic bunches up further up the road. This morning I just crossed into the road works as the works were just cutting the road surface.

I couldn't believe it when I rode down this morning and discovered it was all coned off again!

Incredibly annoying. You have to be quite aggressive to make that right turn when the road is only one lane wide.

Yes, Broughton Road is being dug up yet again and this time it is even more of a cyclist trap than it was before.

There is no traffic light at Logie Green so drivers are just pulling out when they can and obviously that means pulling out in front of cyclists who aren't real traffic anyway. I saw a woman almost get taken out by a tosser in a huge People Killer this morning after someone on the other side of the road stopped to let them out. Obviously neither driver considered the cyclist as being someone who perhaps shouldn't be run over
