Check the Privacy Notice that should have accompanied the consultation form. Don't have it? Ask the contractor where they got your personal data from - which they should actually have told you before they started to use it (article 14).

We (info@cittycyclignedinburgh.info) also got an email from the Contractor:

T & N Gilmartin (Contractors) Ltd has been appointed by The City of Edinburgh Council to construct cycle and walking improvements in Roseburn Park from Riverdale Crescent Bridge at the Ice Rink to the park access/egress onto Roseburn Crescent. The works include:

- Replacement and installation of new path lighting on approx 375m of existing footpath within Roseburn Park, Edinburgh.

- Minor junction improvements at Riversdale Crescent/Roseburn Park including road markings, tactile paving and installation of new cycle friendly bollards.

- Footpath patching –several small patches in the existing footpath to address defects.

- Supply and install new signage and posts.

The works will commence on 17th June 2019 and will last for approximately 4 weeks. Working hours
will generally be between 07:00 to 19:00 Hrs Monday to Friday and 09:30 to 13:30 Hrs Saturday however works out with these times may be necessary at some stages of the project.

Throughout the programme there will be temporary path closures to allow the works to progress safely and these will be signed on site to help guide you safely past the works.

We will make every effort to minimise disruption and noise, but unfortunately some is unavoidable
during works of this type. We would very much appreciate your patience and would apologise in
advance for any inconvenience that these works may cause.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any queries about any aspect of the site work, or if
you have any special access requirements.

Seen a sign advising of works on the lighting at Roseburn park and asking that cyclists slow to a walking speed.

Seems a more reasonable request than dismounting.

So the main part of the NEPN from Lindsay Rd to Russell Rd is called the Caledonian Cycle Track. Is that not between Dumfries and Moffat?

I can't find the path between Craigleith and Silverknowes and the web chat team only direct you to call Clarence.

If they just got rid of all the lights it would probably be safer. Villains like a bit of light to identify their prospective victims while they wait in he shadows, according to my wife who used to work with young offenders.

Couldn't judge which Roseburn lights weren't on but further clockwise earlier on the second light which doesn't work (just after the partially-resurfaced section at the Pilton Farm access point) is MAV124. There are new lights at the resurfaced bit which work, then one old one which works, then a load of old ones which are off.

"Due to the volume of street lighting repairs {ie INSUFFICIENT RESOURCES}, it is taking an average of 20 working days to attend street lighting reports. We are improving this and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

@davidsons - if you enter "cycle" as the street name to search for you'll find 22 results, some of which have streetlights eg George IV (sic) Park and Trinity. This is part of the problem that I've discussed with council and they are now seeking to address and aim to come up with a common naming convention for cycleways eg to tie in with the signs!

It is also rather galling that the faulty streetlight reporting system doesn't include streetlights which are not directly on streets. This means that you can't use that to report any of the lights on the NEPN, for example.

I don't mind reporting them but it takes far too long for them to be fixed. Last year, it took over 60 working days (~3 months) for some reported lights to be fixed!

Not sure exactly when it happened but the change from sodium lamps to LEDs is not improving visibility on the Roseburn path. The height and distance between lamp posts means that the spread of light from the LEDs would appear to be less. This leads to riding through interspersed pools of light followed by darkness. More often than not there is a ninja pedestrian in the darker interludes.

CEC told me a few years ago that they were shortly going to remedy the fact that none of the lights on the Chancelot Path were numbered, after I tried to reported many of them being out and they asked for numbers. (Years on now and they still aren't).

In the end I used my helmetcam footage to count the number of lamp-posts so I could tell them that the 4th, 5th and 12th lights on the left and the 1st, 11th and 15th lights on the right heading up from the WoL end were out!

Also, "we" should not have to be doing the work of collecting all the streetlight numbers when a lot of them are out.

Particularly, when the ones on the bike paths often aren't numbered and when the light is out, how do you see the number to read it?

CEC simply need to DO THEIR JOB and send someone out to identify them.

I survived the pitch black section unscathed that night but had a tyre slashed open by a broken bottle further along the path just before the telford road bridge. The feller that stopped to say hello/commiserate on the way past had picked up no less than 3 drawing pins in his front tyre (which happily was still airtight).
