She got her Raleigh Record Sprint in 1988, just before the MTB craze arrived in rural Tayside. </p> <p>Drop bars and skinny tyres became horribly unfashionable soon after, so when my twin and I got our mountain bikes two years later she was always trying to borrow them. </p> <p>After much abuse and neglect during Uni times, I sold my bike to the now-departed shop down the road from Bike Works for a tenner. Looking back he got a proper steal from me since I'm fairly sure it must have been 531 tubing.
