The drivers for this imprisonment of children? Getting to work on time and 'fear of abduction'. </p> <p>Very, very, sad.</p> <p>Our eldest has been walking to school on his own for about 6 months, and enjoys the wee bit of freedom that gives him. It's not very far though he has to cross a busy road. We still have to pick him up, though from next year I think the school allows kids to go home on their own.
