Windows got a lot better from XP onwards and might have been ahead of OS X on some things.

I don't use anything outwith the MS supplied software. I've got XP Pro and Win7 running on VMWare but I don't use either very often.

Mountain Lion is just the way it came out of the box too. My auntie has some kind of anti virus on her Macs and it just seems to cause problems.

I concluded that home AV software is a waste of time and just slows everything down.

Have used nowt but the bog std anti malware windows stuff plus my routers firewall for 2 years with no problems.

Just wondering if this is just a case of my anti-virus being overly cautious or if there is actually a problem but at the moment every time I visit/log on to this site Kaspersky complains telling me that Google Chrome is trying to access a web page that is used to steal passwords, credit card numbers , and other confidential data.

It appears to be the amazon link that it is taking issue with. I've run my virus checker this morning and my laptop is coming back clean. It's just the web anti-virus keeps popping up and asking me if I want to allow access to the dangerous web page.
