One of the pairs had a heat output of 0.35W, which is sensibly close to zero.</p> <p>They also tested the Zippo handwarmer that looks like a tiny hipflask and is powered by lighter fluid. Fill 'er up for 12 hours of heat!</p> <p>I have a couple of the sodium acetate reusable instant heat packs, but have never got into the habit of carrying them with me in my bag.
