Yes, wasn't it announced a month or so back that the council had won some kind of competition for a bit of bonus money to do up NMW into something resembling a usable cycle path? Currently as SRD says it's currently very narrow and liberally booby-trapped with oxter-deep mud pits, well almost, it's appalling.

The rebuilding of the cycle path between the city and the Forth Bridge was the bit that was news to me, but maybe I've not been paying attention, I expect that was announced a month or two ago too.

So when's the NMW work starting, does anyone know? The rebuilding of the Argyle Place / MMW junction starts this month ISTR. I'm hoping they keep the MMW route open during the work with a temporary alternative path nearby but I'm not holding my breath.

MMW good. NMW _very_ narrow and full of bumps/puddles.

Yeah but why do something difficult when you can re-do something easy then proclaim it a success?

And we’re going to have a high-quality cycle path in the Meadows

Isn't there already many high quality cycle paths in the Meadows? I don't go through it often, but I seem to recall there being plenty of paths through it that I thought were pretty good quality.

... investment in two major cycleway projects.

Transport vice-convener Jim Orr said: “We’re going to upgrade the route from Roseburn to the Forth Bridge so you can cycle from Queensferry into town. There is a pathway at the moment but it is patchy.
