"Was told they were illegal now as they had a habit of slicing any pedestrians you hit in half."

Yep.

Are bull-bars illegal yet?

That would be cool-as! :/

An ex flatmate of mine bought a retro-styled norton motorcycle and wanted to get one of those rego plates that bends horizontally along the front mudguard. Was told they were illegal now as they had a habit of slicing any pedestrians you hit in half.

Or we could just get registration plates - like some politicians/motorists think cyclists should...

2d barcodes on our backs could do it using the same tech as the n-plate readers.

"ANYONE familiar with Edinburgh's roads will know that a journey that should take five minutes can sometimes go on for considerably longer."

http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/topstories/Sign-of-the-times-for.6364703.jp

In view of the previous thread about devious wind directions, perhaps 'we' should demand some technology that will estimate 'today's wind delay factor'(?)
