Yes, I think I did it a while back - did someone post a link here (or on twitter) before?

"
The future of Brixton: more car parking, some nice paving slabs. Cycling seems to have been left completely and utterly out in the cold.

"

I think it's a very badly worded/segmented questionnaire.

Some options have to be read several times before deciding what to vote for!

Some of the agree/not ones contain some things you can agree and disagree with in single options!

My added comments -

"

CEC needs to be much more radical.

It needs to campaign for legislation that restricts/charges for current private parking eg 'out of town' retail and workplace (especially in city centre)

It needs to enforce planning conditions eg on cycle parking in residential developments.

It needs to do more improve designs where pedestrians and cyclists are concerned.

It needs to firmly promote a hierarchy where private vehicles are lower down.

It needs to abandon the notion and importance of "traffic flow". The important thing is how people get around not vehicles.

Walking, cycling and public transport need to prioritised.

Low emission PT vehicles/routes should be introduced covering area between Haymarket and St. Andrew House, George Square and Queen Street - regular and probably free - between 10 and 4.
"

I think I meant frequent rather than regular!

There are quite a number of issues in the consultation that will affect cyclists, regardless of whether cycling is mentioned in relation to them or not. Quite a lot of potential in these proposals to improve the city generally for cycling and walking. Worth reading through the options and supporting those you feel are worth it.

The link to the survey itself is here, but it may not make all that much sense without looking at the document first. It's not that long.

I believe the next Spokes mailing will explore/discuss it as well.

"I looked at the contents, saw there was nothing about bikes"

That's not really true. Reasonable amount about walking and cycling.

Not sure the relevance of this in any appropriate timescale -

"

It should be kept in mind that the next generation of motor vehicles is likely to include speed limit adaptive technology, which will enable cars to keep below the speed limit automatically.

I imagine they feel they have active travel 'covered' by the Active Travel Action Plan (ATAP), which the current council appears to be taking a "that's your lot" attitude to.....though I'd love to be proved wrong.

Also haven't had time yet to look at it properly. I will though, and I'll <strike>vent my fury give them a piece of my mind</strike> respond to the consultation in due course.

I'm not _only_ concerned about cycling, so yes, i think is worth it, but actually, a lot of it does potentially impact on cycling - things like sunday parking, and delivery vehicles have both come up here.

Integrated travel also means things like bike parking, cycle carriage.

I suppose there might be value in returning it as completely inadequate - fails to address active travel?

I haven't found time to look yet, I'm afraid

The council is consulting on its transport strategy:

You can download the report, and then either complete the only survey or send them feedback by post before 17 March.
