Coffee not significantly de gentrified

Valentines day seen as romantic, or memorable but in fact was aiming for Friday but one of Mrs Darksides' sisters couldn't make it so I moved it back a day without thinking. Do not tell anyone this

Thanks to all and congrats to the darkersides

I wasn't saying it was curious that my wifie was keeping her name, she has been clear about that for the last twenty years. No the curiosity for me was that her surname is misheard as Mrs Darkside and yet she declines to swap to the simpler Mrs Gembo.

Kaps, on the espresso front I did buy some wedding coffee from valvona and corolla and it is so fine and tamps down to such a solid disc that the poor we machine cannot push the stream through it. I have had to mix in some coarser coffee

Hey Congratulations!!

My Missus hasn't taken my surname - as we're not married!! but I sometimes refer to her as the 'wif' when not in her company as its easier than getting strangle looks when I talk about my children....

Still makes for trouble at Christmas time when her Grandmother sends her cheques made out to Josie Crampton, as she can not cash them. :D Letters arrive from her addressed to 'Mr & Mrs Crampton' too!! PMSL!!

I occasionally pick up the phone at home to be greeted with "Hello Mr Chaplin?" to which I answer "No!", throws them for a second or two... :D

Thanks all.

Michelle's not sure about the whole surname thing. On the one hand as a musician/teacher she has a professional brand build up around her current surname, and on the other she currently has exactly the same name as her sister-in-law, which causes moderate confusion.

I'm utterly easy either way, although I note that we have received a number of cheques payable to Mr & Mrs DS... :p

Congratulations Darkerside and Gembo (tomorrow).

If men were asked to take wifes surname, it would never happen - too much hassle plus the 'manhood' thing.

I never had an issue with my wife keeping her name - it makes for good sport too when cold callers ask if I am Mr XYZ and I say 'no'.

Not that unusual (my other half prefers her surname - as well as various other reasons); and actually traditionally Scottish (I might be wrong, but I think it was more a Victorian influence that changed that).

We changed names, but in some respects I think it would have been nice not to.

I suppose the weirdness would be having kids that didn't share your name. Or, if you had two, they could each have a different surname but be siblings?

My partner will not be taking the name Mrs Gembo. in another curious twist she is keeping her own name which is often mistakenly heard as Mrs darkside.
