No problem, and thanks for picking that up. For some reason the rendering of anchor link tags has changed, and bleeds over the rest of the article.

Lucky I don't use them too much, but I do have to sift through over 100 articles still, checking and re-doing the images :(

AHA!

I made a breakthrough. You can have drop-down menus instead of just a few key menu items.

You can now hover over 'Routes' and see 'Family Friendly'/50 miler/all routes options, for instance.

Also makes the sprawling ramble of my complaints about all and sundry a bit easier to organise by PoP / trams / QBC / Meadows, and so on.

Nice! Need more stuff about recumbents, though, and their heroic riders.

Hmm. Weird that any of that would be needed to display a slideshow!

IIRC, gravatar is the mechanism by which people get to carry around their thumbnail profile pictures when they post around the internet, for instance. I have no idea what addthis.com is!

Curious. I wonder if it's just part of wordpress.

Dave: I have Javascript disabled from some sites using NoScript. I eventually found that your picture didn't come up until I enabled scripts from google-analytics.com. addthis.com and gravatar.com. I generally run my browser with a blanket ban on these sites so I'll just do without seeing the big picture on your site.

I'm not sure about the navigation though... at the moment it's not obvious that there are routes/places written up at all, for instance.

But you can only have so much stuff on the menu bar. It's a pickle!

@cc: that's odd - I see it OK on Firefox and Safari (OSX) and Firefox and IE (Win7).

You have disabled javascript perhaps? Otherwise I don't have many ideas.

Heading banner - I think it could be more mysterious though as there is a bias towards unpopular bikes! Maybe you should have more bikes on right so it covers the range?

I've already got a plan for that, which is to have a few different 'things' on the right, and have the banner rotate randomly between them. I might need to take some photos on purpose though, as I only had that one of my old commuter up against a plain wall that really worked.

I definitely want to have more suggested routes written up and things of that sort. Found an excellent circular with SWMBO at the weekend (only slightly marred by a couple of miles of main road, out of 50 miles)

When I visit the site I don't see the main CROSSING NOT IN USE picture. I've taken a screenshot if you would like it.

I'm getting this on firefox on Linux and MacOS 10.6. I use roughly the same privacy and security related firefox plugins on both.

New layout is very clean - a lot of content to handle but easier to find now.

Heading banner - I think it could be more mysterious though as there is a bias towards unpopular bikes! Maybe you should have more bikes on right so it covers the range?

I almost read it as 'it's not about the bike'. The range of topics covered is very broad but maybe the banner promises a Sheldon?

The fact that it covers routes and road use puts it away from just equipment ..

Old hack lines like 'view from the saddle' are not right either. Is an alternative look at getting around and not just re-spouting PR releases. This alone makes it an interesting & dangerous read (esp for retailers!)

Just my view.

The 'don't talk to me about bikes' line is used by my other half. Much time is spent in silence.

For a certain value of 'new'... I've been working on buffing up my website :)

I'm fairly happy with the layout but would be interested in any critical feedback - especially the logo (although as all graphic work is anathema to me, I quite like it as it is!)

The photos are now served from "the cloud", don't you know... very web 2.0 etc etc. Saves me around 500MB of bandwidth a day, which is a relief.

One of my (many) new year resolutions was to get on top of my huge writing backlog, which will hopefully motivate me to do some more local politics /badger the council type stuff.

Anyway - if you'd like to have a poke and give your opinion, I'm all ears :D
