S&amp;N had the contract for the Union Bar(s) and the challenge was to get a full firkin to London in the shortest possible time. The winners used a motorbike with the barrel sandwiched between the pilot and the pillion.</p> <p>In Copenhagen they race on a closed circuit around the harbour district so I can imagine that a suitable option for Edinburgh might be to look for a circuit around Leith especially with so many bijou bistros and bars which the course could be routed past, to provide suitable viewing locations with victuals ready to hand </p> <p>There are I think a couple of Bullitts or 8freights in town and I could bring the Brompton with a trailer of some form - with a capacity of around 100Kg, which should be sufficient for a barrel or two.</p> <p>I would suggest that it might be modelled on the Smithfield Nocturne, and so could include other supporting races for folding bikes, and high wheelers. I believe there is still some profit to be made from selling drink, and given that some of this church may have connections with media/PR companies, who work with the brewers, vintners and distillers of this parish, to come up with suitable supporting arrangements.
