Disappointed to see DC is Washington DC not David Cameron DC.

"basically a bunch of washington folk saying they don't want to deal with it - much like Keith Brown etc."

I think that's true, but doesn't invalidate the idea of talking 'beyond cycling'.

“If you can get the small business community to come out and understand that when traffic speeds go over 25 mph their business goes down, then its game over.”

Yes, though that can't apply to many places. Persuading them that reducing speeds is good ought to be easy.

One problem is that businesses that perceive that parking restrictions - for customers or deliveries - will affect them, shout the loudest.

We all know how CEC hates disadvantaging motorised travellers.

Okay, I've read the full list linked to, and glanced through the presentation/report which the list links to.

And, I have to say, the bottom half of the list is basically a bunch of washington folk saying they don't want to deal with it - much like Keith Brown etc.

Not impressed.

"
The report from the consultant, which was released at the National Bike Summit last week, included some very candid, and pointed, advice to cyclists:

#11: “You have some very well meaning, but out of touch and arrogant (bicycling advocates) who come in and turn people off.”

#10: “Bicycling has very much had a cultural aspect predicated on exclusion and identity…they need to get away from talking about themselves to what’s in it for (others).”

#9: “It can’t be about critical mass and kicking ass. It has to be about multimodal, progressive, transportation options.”

"

And more -

http://www.bikede.org/2013/03/11/dc-insiders/
