The survey is badly written as it pre-biases the person taking the survey (negatively) by means of the introduction/backgroung

People will drive/cycle for miles just to use them,

That's the reason the second Forth Bridge is being built. I predict that the P+R site will need to be increased.

So we'll have an unwanted bridge bringing business to the tram. Perfect! Of course the rest of the day it will be nice and quiet and I predict fares will go to the Scotrail congestion charge model with a premium rate between 4.30 and 6.30.

Congestion charging alway works on public transport!

Its interesting, I had not considered the tram for airport use until recently - the tram 'should' have a large impact on the airport car parking (and hence some of the traffic to / from airport)if some large employers crack the whip re parking costs at airport.

My office is at Edinburgh Park, and we have a lot of people using the airport every day of the week.

Short stay costs (up to) £29 for the day (!) - I predict it wont be long after the trams are in operation that my work will be telling people to either use the office car park and wander across to the tram stop (a hundred yards or so) - or use some combo of the train/trams to use airport.

I wonder if the first few months of operation will be quiet then ramp up a bit as people get used to using a combo of bus/train/tram?

An Oyster type card would be useful (not just edinburgh but scotland wide)

There will be a kuhnian shift in perception if the trams ever get finished and people start using them. People will drive/cycle for miles just to use them, people will go out to the airport just for the hell,of it, everyone in corstorphine will get rid of their cars

Firstly the line is in the wrong place - a more obvious route would have been their "line 3", linking Waverley Station with the Royal Infirmary via Edinburgh University and Cameron Toll, thus ensuring massive popularity all along the route all day.

Yes but that would benefit residents and we can't have that. Our pounds should only ever be spent on tourists and don't you forget it.

I put in my survey response that my attitude had changed (from initial wild enthusiasm) for two reasons.

Firstly the line is in the wrong place - a more obvious route would have been their "line 3", linking Waverley Station with the Royal Infirmary via Edinburgh University and Cameron Toll, thus ensuring massive popularity all along the route all day. Secondly because of the designers' and builders' contemptuous destruction of miles of existing cycle facilities, and their arrogant refusal to lay the tram tracks in a way that was safe for cycling, despite being supplied with well informed requests and advice on the matter beforehand.

The first we can't do anything about, we'll just have to cross our fingers and hope that enough people actually want to use the route they ended up with that the trams don't lose money hand over fist. The second we might be able to do something about if we keep trying, so it's well worth going on about it. Not to relay the tram tracks, though goodness knows they do need to be radically moved, but at least to arrange safe crossing points, to explain that cycle paths shouldn't have flights of steps in them, that sort of thing.

Theu're not going to go away. I was against them until the initial go ahead was given, for much of the same reasons as have been given. Maybe once the decision was made, if we'd all put up, shut up and pulled together, the tram project would be in a better place. Inquiry after inquiry after inquiry ... didn't come cheap.

Plus; if the EEN is against something (although it still laughably claims to be neutral), these days I'm instinctively FOR something.

If you answered YES to Q1, how have you been affected by the tram project?

"

"Major disruption to cycle path (Russell Road) and MANY road closures without adequate (or usually any) alternatives/signing. "
