@crowriver: Yes, a lovely people carrier to ferry Persephone and Tarquin to their écoles and a sensible Range Rover for popping round to the shops to buy a bottle of milk.

And, when Persephone and Tarquin turn 17, they will each get their very own cars in order that they too can enjoy the freedom that car ownership brings - the freedom to spend all their money on petrol, and the freedom to stay sober instead of getting wasted when they drive to parties on a Saturday night!

Naturally all of these cars will be accomodated on the pavement because the anti-car Clowncil does not see fit to supply parking spaces for four cars per household in low-density Morningside.

The 'green market' is one that's hard to get advertising revenue from. The supplement has ads for solar power, garden decking, a craft fair, green childcare (beside M8!), craft beer, beds and Stagecoach buses. The WWF are backers with EarthHour on 23rd March getting space.
The Herald has no car ads or car reviews this Sunday. Bike advertisers rarely do ads. I tried the Big Issue last year as it covered Scotland and seemed to have good profile. Herald would be too pricey though a bike like the Helios could have been of interest.

It's unusual for the kind of middle class families who are the Sunday Herald's target demographic...

The mantra is: "We've got kids, we need a car. Preferably two."

I always find these articles bizarre - as if not owning a car is unusual. In the large cities it's actually extremely common.

Don't think it's on line.

'Life without a car' Article by Vicky Allan.

Two spreads with good picture of family in Leith Links all on bikes (forumers maybe)?

"Cars are part of the texture of family life. They are extra storage vessels, protective bubbles, hiding places and containment facilities...." (There are downsides of course....!)

Looks at two cases of living without a car. One family example (Mum, dad, daughter and dog in basket) and the other a business with a bike trailer. Called Little Blue Bike - Ellie Mills is also pictured with her bike and trailer. Will have been featurd on this forum somewhere.

Mentioned in this awards PR.
