I never understand why they dont lay on extra bins on days like today

They do (although seemingly never enough!). And they've recently installed quite a few large new fixed bins. Some people are just too lazy and inconsiderate to carry their rubbish the 50m or so to the nearest bin, or to carry it home if that is full.

"Maybe we should shut the road..."

It's also used a lot by ambulances to 'cut across' the city. TBH, I think it's a pretty good route for the ambulances.

Can you imagine the Hootsman headline if CEC tried to shut it?

The answer is to have a system where the road is blocked to through traffic except emergency vehicles.

Been on my list for a while.

'Realistically' could only be between Marchmont Road and Argyle Place because of bus routes.

Would be worth doing every Sunday (to start with).

Half the problem is they put the slabbed areas where nobody wants to sit.

(Like next to a busy road)

Maybe we should shut the road...

We got one of these on sale last year and (duh) didn't notice the 'legs' (which fold under) until this July, at which point it had been used a lot! We just put it on an old broken roof slate, which unfortunately was 'cleared up' after some roofing (they didn't realise it was from a previous job), at which point we put it on a plank of wood. thin, but effective, and no balancing issues.

Our BBQ okay for 2, but a bit too small for any serious cooking. this one says it has two height of grill, so may be more sophisticated than ours.

well, no. that's not true. some in the CC are opposed, but I don't think they had a proper debate on it (and what they did have was on bruntsfield). At more recent meeting it became clear that some claims made about what is legal and what is not were somewhat misleading.

it might be worth having a proper discussion of it at CC, including perspectives from council officials, and police, rather than kneejerk responses. FOHP voice would be taken seriously, i think (if they came to a meeting)

I didn't pick up on this at the time, but it's an interesting example of how you can get proper 'scope creep' going on behind your back.

For example, under this scheme you can be banned from all parks (and second time around, arrested and prosecuted) if you "behave in a way that causes annoyance to any other person".

This means that, strictly speaking, you could be convicted if you ride a folding bike (I find their silly looking small wheels annoying) or heaven forbid, if you have a religious belief or even skin colour which someone, anyone, finds annoying.

Hmm.
