I had a go on those bikes too :) If you saw a female goth on the tall pink bike at one point, that will have been me :P I didn't feel hugely safe on that one lol. Loved the wooden bikes though.

People seem to really like the leaflet... I've seen people pick it up because of the baby panda and then getting really absorbed in reading it...

Aye it was tricky getting the tandem parked due to the sheer numbers of bikes chained up outside!

We had a good laugh at the bike zoo, tried out a few rides and helped my son try one of the high bikes. The wooden cargo trike defeated me with any load in it, though others seemed to manage with three kids in front. It steered very poorly though.

Spent hours there as there was so much for my young lad to see and do all over the building. Took some snaps at the bike zoo and may put up later if I get a chance.

No unfortunately not! There were leaflets inside though, and they were being taken.. Handlebar flyering needs to start soon though, and we'll need CCE's help for that..

The event inside was great. We were going for an hour and stayed for 4...

I got there before the queue, and had a shot on all the bikes that I could. The tall bikes defeated me and I didn't even think about trying the reverse one.

The blue one above rides nicely but is pretty solid, presumably since thicker metal is easier to weld. Andy was showing off his next, thinner gauged production.

Well worth two and half quid: first time I'd ridden a bike made in Edinburgh, and first time I'd drunk a cup of coffee I'd boiled myself. That isn't to say I'm the landed gentry with a butler to do that for me, or that I'm not trusted with a kettle and have adult help to save me from myself. I mean they had a generator linked up to a homebrew (and strikingly illfitting) stationary bike and thence to a mug of water and immersion heater in a wee insulated chamber.

Andy from Eastside came over to look at the halfbuilt trike we're storing through the back.
Was on a rather smart bike he'd made earlier. Nice work.

From Eastside Bikes' FB page:

"Andy spent some of the quiet months this winter in the basement of the shop learning to TIG weld bike frames. The fruits of his labour - a disc braked tourer made from Columbus tubing - will be on display at the Mini-Maker-Faire Edinburgh at Summerhall on Sunday 7/4/13. He'll be in the bike zoo display, along with a bunch of tall bikes, freak bikes and a bike disco!!"
