Dave,

assume they've been so head-over-heels keen to announce the intention to run the pilot of this service that nobody has even set up the timetable yet!

Yeh I also saw their general free phone number. Why can't they just list the sailings times? Presumably its the same each day/week?

Still press release only!! We don't know the days or times of sailings so we can't take advantage of advance booking of trains or accomodation in Campbelltown. Online booking shows only islands and summer timetable has no info on the sailing!

Disapointing.

Using Arran to get to Islay is quite a pleasant trip. Getting back is best done on a Friday as there is a late boat.

Info on the web page now.

@EddieD do it! And make sure to drop into Debbie's café at Bruichladdich for some cake, coffee and to relax in the Velo Club d' Ardbeg corner.

Brian from VC Ardbeg / TWMP says it is compulsory to go for a ride with them if you happen to be on "his" island. @TWMP on twitter.

Oh that's sweet! Thanks for posting this, I've been wanting to go to Islay for years*, but the route to get there was a tad involved.

*I'll freely admit Bunnahabhain and The Botanist are two reasons I want to go...

Heh. Yes, not helpful, assume they'll wait until they publish new timetables officially? Or maybe press release dept. are just a bit ahead of web dept.

Was also thinking there's a reasonable route to cycle Glasgow to Ardrossan, shouldn't take more than a few hours.

This thread may turn into me thinking aloud about a short tour out to Islay / Jura then maybe north via Colonsay to Oban and Mull and Iona.

Saw this on the Beeb today, Calmac launching a summer ferry from Ardrossan to Campbeltown article here.

Bearing in mind Ardrossan is under 2 hours away on the train, and previously you would have had to go across to Brodick, around Arran then across from Lochranza to Skipness, you can now go direct to south of Kintyre and then up the east coast on the B-road. From there Islay and Jura are but a few hours away on the ferry.

New opportunity for some shorter touring without having to do the dull bit of "getting there".

I may factor this into my summer plans.
