The motion highlights Alison’s belief that the east of Scotland has been left behind in the race to create a Commonwealth Games legacy.</p> <p>Alison said: “Chris’s outstanding achievements have helped inspire a new generation of sports enthusiasts and have helped renew many people’s love of cycling. It is important we make the most of that enthusiasm by supporting young people in sport and improving our cycling infrastructure.</p> <p>“As we reflect on an amazing sporting career we must ensure a meaningful legacy from next year’s Commonwealth Games. Ironically it is the east of Scotland that has so far been left behind with the Meadowbank Stadium saga a classic example.</p> <p>“We must also redouble our efforts to make cycling on our streets the easy option.
